Teamwork!

One of my favorite pieces of advice someone gave me before we got married was that Colin and I are officially a team, no longer going forward in life trying to make our own way, but doing it together.  This has been something that has become a bit of a mantra for us and I think will become even more important as we grow in our marriage. Today I found this especially challenged in light of the fact that we are both oldest children.  Now I am very proud of this fact, I probably boast my 'eldest child-ness' too often.  But put two people who are very confident in their own way of doing things together and it gets a little tense.  I default to my 'I should be correct, I should be calling the shots' mode frequently and forget that we're supposed to be moving forwards together.

Repeat: We're a team, we're a team, we're a team.

When I remember that, things get a lot easier.  I get considerably happier.  Interesting...

It also helps that he's so cute...

Another thing I've discovered lately is my sheer delight in cooking.  It is interesting how much more immersed I have to be in it, I guess if I didn't cook we would go hungry a lot.  But I also love it, I find it a little therapeutic.  So my obsessive photographs of food will only get worse....
