It's been a long time since I've posted!  Life has been fun but busy.  Lots of change and work and socializing.  I am thankful for it. I am also thankful for this weekend away.  A weekend to bask in mountainous silence, but for the voices of small french children riding their bikes around the campground and squirrels chattering at every passerby.  The weather was grey so we kept a fire going and read in our camp chairs most of the time, and fell asleep to rain on the tarp.  Those of us who live in or near the Rockies need to be forever, forever thankful.

I am reading this book: Seven Sacred Pauses: Living Mindfully Through the Hours of the Day by Macrina Wiedekehr and it's helping my process through more stressful times in a slightly more constructive way.  Pausing, breathing, "holding vigil" for things that are beyond my control and for which I have no words but yet still desire to pray... It is a calmer way to recognize that there are things that cause pain and anxiety, but I don't have to fight to suppress them. They can be.  Counter intuitive for most of us who have the fight or flight response towards anything negative.
