As our families get older, we have been trying to move towards experiences for Christmas rather than things. Whether that be taking care of dinner and babysitting while a couple goes on a date, or taking a sibling out for a one-on-one fun day, it's been fun trying to create meaningful events to give. Usually it means spending time together, trying something new, and eating good food. While we aren't often left with anything to hold once it's done, we are left with great memories of laughter, fun and relationships grown. And when the experience is over, we are always left saying: "We need to do this again"
For my parents' gift this year, we took them snowshoeing and for lunch at Storm Mountain Lodge. It was perfectly crisp, huge dollops of snow hung on every branch, and the cozy cabin where we ate a delicious lunch is one of the most magical places in the mountains. I can't wait to go back.
