A friend who has a kid the same age and is also a photographer is a rare gift. Who else understands the need to stop in every cool spot to take 20 photos of your kid from every possible angle? Who else is unafraid to request a photo of themselves with their kid since they are almost always behind the camera? Who else risks almost getting hit by a tractor just to get the shot??
This recent trip to the Saskatoon Farm was magical. It's a spot where the kids can run free, a taste of farm life for us city folk. The greenhouses were a photographers dream and the girls were happy to sniff new blooms as we snapped away. On the way out we threw pebbles into a pond where tiny minnows swam by and visited with a horse before finally heading home. It was the best way to spend a warm day and will only get better (and worse for my wallet) as fresh produce starts to fill the stands. Already planning many more visits there in the months to come.
Yes I definitely decked Sloane out in overalls on purpose. A farm! Duh!
There was a chicken coop with various birds, which was very exciting until the turkey approached and Sloane was like HELL NO. Kid carries bugs around and tries to kiss them but can't stand a friendly fowl.
Beautiful locations aside, all kids really want is some cookies and a pond to throw rocks in.
